Rail & Road Auctions is proud to present a two day railroad ephemera auction filled with railroad treasures to add to your collection. This two day sale features paper, China, hardware, horns, builders plates, and much more. Below are just some of the highlights of this sale. Please make sure you view the entire catalog to see the entire 650 lots.

 Day 1 -Monday September 4th – Lots 5000-5349

Our Thursday session is filled with a selection of vintage paper, some china, lanterns, ticket dater, keys, passes, and more.

The core of the paper comes from a western Illinois based collection which highlights the Chicago & Alton and other railroad in the St. Louis area. The Chicago & Alton paper and passes in this sale are really special and include a handful of pieces rarely seen for sale.  This collection was not only limited to the Midwest, he collected late 1800’s and early 1900’s timetables and passes from around the United States which are included in this sale.

Another paper highlight in this session includes the collection of one of the heads of maintenance of way for the Pennsylvania Railroad out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. During his time he collected a number of interesting Pennsylvania items including freight car, passenger, and locomotive diagrams, original Pennsylvania service structure blue prints, track charts, and more. There are also a number of operational books for maintenance of way machines such as the Jordan Spreader, Burro Crane, and more.

Along with these two groups of paper we will have a selection of lanterns, cap badges, baggage tags, keys, and locks.

Highlights of the Thursday sale include a 1904 Colorado Midland color timetable, 1902 Chicago and Alton “Fencing Girl” advertising calendar, a group of pre Civil War Chicago and Rock Island stock certificates, a set of original architectural plans for the Toledo, Ohio passenger station from the Pennsylvania Railroad (Dated 1879 and 1902), and a St. Louis Public Service Company destination roll.

This description is just a sample of the 350 lots that we’ll have on the first day alone. Don’t miss viewing the entire catalog!

Day 2- Tuesday September 5th – Lots 5350-5650

The Friday session is a great sale with a wide offering of unique railroad ephemera of all shapes and sizes.

Our August sale highlights part one of a multi auction railroad china collection. This collection was a lifetime collection built by a husband and wife team who were devoted to seeking out quality railroad china and silver. They searched across the country and attended numerous auctions over the years to build this collection and now it is ready to move on to the next round of caretakers. We’ll be including 100 lots in this sale with more to follow in October and possibly beyond.

The second collection that makes up a portion of the Friday session in a Kansas based collection focused on the Missouri Pacific and Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. There is a wide selection of lanterns (including presentation), builders plates, Railway Express Agency porcelain signs, locomotive gauges, passenger car step boxes, and more.

I also want to take a moment and highlight a few key Pennsylvania Railroad items in this sale. They include a Juniata cast Pennsylvania Railroad I1SA bell, Pennsylvania Holiday travel poster from the 1960s which has no online record, Pennsylvania Railroad Renovo Shops fire call box, complete with the mechanism, and a shop painted Pennsylvania keystone steel sign.

Highlights of the Friday session include Belt Railway of Chicago cast iron sign, Alco / American Locomotive Company cast builders plate for Okmulgee Northern Railway 2-8-0 No. 5 , Delaware and Hudson Whitehall service plate, Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway “Super Hudson” #3467 builders plate, cast iron ” No Thoroughfare” railroad property sign, Oregon Washington Railroad & Navigation Company #512 Baldwin builders plate, Adams & Westlake cast brass railroad passenger car chandelier, Illinois Central French Quarter service plate, multiple examples of the Leslie RS3L horn, a Nathan K5LA horn, set of model / Interlocking boards from the Belt Railway of Chicago Hayford Junction, a Leslie RS-5T Supertyfon horn, and Prime PM-920 horn.
