Rail & Road Auctions is proud to present another 600 lot two day sale filled with quality railroadiana and railroad ephemera of all shapes and sizes. Here are just a few of the highlights of this upcoming auction.

Day 1 – Thursday June 15, 2023 – 10 AM Eastern

Day one is highlighted by the remaining items from the Rock Island and other railroad paper collection that we have offered this Spring. There are a number of travel related items as well as named passenger trains such as the Golden Rocket, Golden State and Rocket passenger trains.

There is also a selection of locks, keys, public timetables, employee timetables, and more. For our sign collectors there are some smaller cat eye and cast iron railroad signs included in this first session. Be sure to check out the second day for more sign offerings!

Day one will conclude with a selection of china and a number of large railroad signal parts lots including hoods, lenses, and much more.

Highlighted lots from this first session include a number of Nathan locomotive horn individual bells, a yellow 1 Track sign with glass cat eyes, “Stop, Look, Listen” cast iron oval sign, a matched pair of Chesapeake and Ohio cannonball caboose marker lights, International Silver Milwaukee Road menu holder, Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Poppy pattern china, and more.

Day 2- Friday June 16, 2023 – 10 AM Eastern

Day two is highlighted by signs, signals, and silver!

We have our largest offering to date of cast iron signs. Leading the way is a two piece cast iron “Look Out for Locomotive – Danger, Stop, Look, Listen” sign measuring just over 55” tall and 48” wide. We have a number of other cast iron signs including those from the New York Central, Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railroad, Delaware and Hudson, and more. There is also a set of cast iron 45 and 60 degrees cross bucks,

Signals in this sale include a full GRS 2A semaphore from the Monon railroad, a Western Railroad Supply wig wag, a GRS color position light, a Griswold 2B crossing bell, multiple GRS and Union Switch and Signal signals, and more.

The Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific ephemera in this sale is highlighted by a scarce 1900 Representative Employees book, Aluminum engineering case from LaSalle Street Station, three Presidential and Presidential Candidate menus including Eisenhower, Dewey / Warren, and Abraham Lincoln 100th Birthday, a group of unused Rose O’Neil postcards, a cast iron pole mounted Rock Island herald, and more.

The silver and china is highlighted in this sale by a collection purchased in the late 1970’s from the Canadian Pacific “Vault Auctions” These pieces have only been owned by the Canadian Pacific and one private owner. The majority are in fine condition and have not circulated for over four decades.

We will also have a nice selection of original railroad paintings in this sale highlighted by works from Edward Paulson and F. Wonderoth Sounders.

Other highlighted lots include a pair of Handlan locomotive classification lamps, Adams & Westlake Erie double wire guard lantern with red flashed globe, Missouri Pacific sugar bowl,
Embossed steel railroad crossing sign with cat eye reflectors, our final pair of Harrington semaphore blades, and more.

This is just a partial list of the diverse offerings we have on the second day of this auction. Please take note that the Monon semaphore will need to be picked up near our Lafayette, Indiana location and can not be shipped. There are also larger items that will ship directly from our warehouse, but will require freight transit and crating.
